The Gossip

I saw a story about The Gossip on a blog somewhere praising the cover they did of "Careless Whisper", and listened, And could not have possibly cared less but downloaded the CD anyway. and was amazed at how great it was. So i looked into them to find out who this girl with the amazing voice was. Well... she is not a looker and... wow... sweet jesus christ put that shit away... Anyway I guess that makes it that much more amazing that I havent stopped listening to them since. The lead singer is gross, They did a weak cover of a weak 80's tune and the CD actually came out over a year ago. But holy shit can she sing and the mix of soul and punk works big time.
check out the songs from the album and the new remixes that are surfacing are pretty good too.

Atmosphere

The fifth album from Atmosphere is something ive been waiting weeks for and it was twice what I was hoping it would be. Atmosphere consists of members Ant and Slug with Slug handling most of the lyrics and and Ant producing and DJing on tour. This cd is different from the previous albums but in a good way. Unlike most hip hop atmosphere raps less about slangin drugs and more about drug addiction, less about pimpin and more about single parenthood, less about bling and more about trying to scrape by with what you have. In turn, more about you or your neighbor and not the fantasy land that exists on MTV. Do yourself a huge favor and pick up this cd.

Santogold
I cant seem to put a finger on why I like Santogold so much. But the fact is I do. Every time one of her songs runs through my speakers I find myself bobbing my head at my desk. And im willing to bet you will too. You and I will not be alone. She has got all the buzz in the world right now. Bloggers everywhere a talking about her as is MTV and just about every music magazine there is. All this from someone who hasnt even dropped her first album yet. A few songs have leaked to the internet and she released a single on iTunes. That included the first song "Creator" and "L.E.S Artistes". I also a included "Starstruck" a leaked song from the new album coming out April 29th. As well as a remix of "You'll Find a Way"Wednesday, April 16, 2008
The Black Keys

The new new album from the Blues/Rock band The Black Keys has been blasting from my car for weeks and will definitely be blasting through my backyard now that the weather is nice. They have great sound. The new album was produced by Dangermouse of Gnarls Barkley (which worried me when I first heard). but the album sounds even better then the last which is saying something. check out "Your Touch" from the previous album and "Strange Times" from the latest release.
50 Foot Wave

While checking out a KCRW Podcast on my AppleTV last night I spotted the name Kristen Hersh who I had not seen anything from in years. She was in the boston band Throwing Muses along with her stepsister Tanya Donelly of Belly. Tanya was also in the Breeders along with Kim Deal of the Pixies. After searching her name on google I found Kristens new band 50 Foot Wave. I always liked her voice and was a fan of Throwing Muses harder songs and this seems to be more like that. It was released in 2005 and they have a new album coming out soon. but its new to me and probley to most others. See Below.

Muxtape

Muxtape.com is a place you can share your music online creating a virtual mixtape that you can stream from anywhere. Its a clever idea and alot of fun which means the RIAA should be raining on the parade anyday now . But until then go make a mixtape and check out mine I change it about once a week
Lollapalooza 2008

What an amazing lineup. So many bands I want to see. Unfortunately I will have to choose carefully since there is no way to see them all. Im excited to see Rage Against The Machine again I saw them back in '97 with the Wu Tang Clan (who was awful) and they put on an amazing show. I scaled a 20 foot fence and snuck into the show with a couple of my friends. I would like to think that I was in fact "Raging against the machine" but the truth is we were broke because we spent all our money on beer and drugs. yes very revolutionary

Rogue Wave

I first heard of this band only last week and have not stopped listening to them since. These guys are amazing. Unfortunately they played last weekend in boston and I missed them. But will make it a point to catch them at lollapalooza this year. The new cd is great as are the previous 2. Check out the songs below
